Poem of the week “Black Man Dreams” 2/2/11

In this world of such tribulation,

there seems to be no escape.

Everything comes with a price,

the cost sometimes is the soul.

Selling your soul to get, to have, to be,

but there ain’t nothin’ like a Black Man Dream.

Dreams that can save a nation,

raise a child right,

uplift a community,

and make it safe to dream out loud again.

When a Black man dreams,

The world stands still,

life becomes meaningful,

ancestors look down and smile,

a mother reclaims her child.

Without Black man dreams,

we walk streets aimlessly,

we lie in jails unhappily,

and we allow life to go on

Without us.
