How many times have you said to yourself, “Hey, I’m worth it.” I mean really believed that you deserve great things to come your way, and even when you hit a rough patch, you still remained faithful because of that belief. You look past the situation, and stand firmly on such sayings as, “And this too shall pass.” I don’t know about y’all, but I can’t lie and say that person is me all the time. I can use the excuse that I’m human. But, the majority of the time we can be our own worst critics, always judging ourselves based on where we feel our lives should be. It’s like a constant struggle of knowing your worth, yet not fully understanding what that worth is. Don’t y’all feel that you deserve the best of life? Please don’t take my word for it, let’s take it to the real Word!
God promised us that He would never leave us alone. Do you actually think he would make us in His likeness, yet make us less worthy of His Blessings. He wants His people to stand on His promises. These promises are written throughout the Old and New testament in the Bible, and they encourage us to stand on God’s Word, for it is true. In Jeremiah 29:11 it reads, “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” He knows our worth, and the plans he has for us will come to pass if we continue to stand on the knowledge that He is all-powerful. Another verse that speaks to the troubles that we face, and may continue to face, yet we are not to give up, is Romans 8:37-39. It reads, “Despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries for tomorrow-not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below-indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” This love is another justification of our worth. We are worthy of overcoming everything that comes our way. Through God’s love, we find strength to endure the test.
A couple of weeks ago, I was really going through a lot of stress and doubt. I kept questioning why I had to be the one to go through that. I work hard, treat people good, and I felt I didn’t deserve to have to go through as much as I was?! Wasn’t I worthy of being surrounded by positive people and situations at all times? Yeah, I know I was a bit out of control with my thinking, especially because I know of the relationship that I have with my Lord and Savior. Two of my favorite old skool gospel songs are, ‘I don’t feel no ways tired,’ and ‘Work it out.’ These songs were my true inspiration (along with the prayers of my family and friends) to believing that my God would never bring me this far to leave me, and that He’s already worked it out, so I need to let it go. See, I realized that my worth is not about what I said, it’s about what God has already promised…what He has written…and all He asks is that I heed his commandments and continue to strive to be a better Christian each and every day.
You may have recently gone through or are still going through a heartbreak, financial setback, layoff, family situation, etc… Just know that God is there, even when you’re fighting to believe that. You are worthy of His love, and you will get through the situation. I will leave us all with this scripture, John 14:27, it reads, “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”
Stay Faithful, Prayerful and stand on God’s promises…You are Worth it!
