Stop, Look and Listen

Have you ever felt like time is moving way too fast? All the things you wanted to do, places you wanted to go, things you wanted accomplish, are slipping away and almost gone. No matter how much you try to construct your 3-5yr plan, the more life seems to just happen, and nothing seems to ever go as planned. All of your hopes and expectations are like dreams deferred. If you’ve been feeling this way and need some direction, this post is for you.

When was the last time that you just stopped and appreciated everything that you have? There are so many other people that wish they could be in your shoes. Although you don’t have that new car or new house, that successful new position, the savings to do what you want, etc…(shall I really go on.) There are thousands of people in Japan who have just dealt with a devastating tragedy that has left them without homes, family members, and all the things that they once knew are now a distant memory. You may not be where you want to be, but you’re not there, so now is the time to put a stop to it. Stop the whining, the complaining, the blaming, and the whole ‘woo is me’ attitude. Now is the time to stand on God’s promises. One of the biggest promises that He made is to never leave us alone. No matter the situation, God is always by your side, making a way out of no way. Stop, trust in Him and His Word that says, “God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Phillipians 4:19.

When you look at how far God has brought you, and believe that you have more Blessings on the way, why would you keep worrying? Is it because those Blessings aren’t tangible? You can’t see them nor touch them, so you can’t believe that they are there or on the way? One scripture that speaks to this is, Proverbs 3:5-6 which says: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” Take the time to look at what God’s Word said, and not focus on what has or what hasn’t come to pass thus far. Everything that is for you will be given to you, but we must embrace patience and perseverance. The enemy is on every side, but God needs to remain on the inside.

Listen, I know that right now we all are going through some things. However, in order to get to it, we must go through it. Often times we determine what we go through, because we don’t listen. We have decided to make our future, propel our own destiny, yet the minute things don’t work out, we want to call on the Lord to come and help us. However, we don’t want to take the time to realize that it’s not about destiny, fate, future, etc… it’s about God’s ordained purpose for our lives. Everything that is supposed to happen, is already written “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11. He is just waiting on us to get ourselves right so that we can start to live out that Purpose.

As simplistic as it sounds, by taking the time to stop, look and listen…and to pray without ceasing..these are the first steps to uplifting your thoughts and truly believing that everything is going to be alright and your just due is on the way!

A little Faith goes a long way….

“Now Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1). How many times have you read, heard, or even recited this scripture? Yet how many times have you continued to doubt that same Faith that you speak so highly about? We all have our own personal struggles, and some unfortunately, are worse than others. I have a philosophy that I’ve adopted from the many inspirational people in my life that says, “No matter what you see with your eyes, it’s what you don’t see, yet believe, that should keep you going.” You may not be where you want, have it all, or even be close, but if God said it, that’s enough for me! Okay, before I get to preaching and testifying, let me stay on topic. Ye of little Faith (even if you’re in denial about it), this post is for You.

I understand that sometimes it’s seems like it’s so hard to see the forest from the trees. Everything around you is not what you thought, you hoped, or you even prayed it would be. That doesn’t mean that it’s not on the way. That doesn’t mean that your Faith should falter, because this could be your test. When you continue to hold on, no matter how badly you want to give up, you are on your way to triumphing over that test. For example, I know that there are many people who have turned away from embracing their spirituality due to something happening and they believing that God had forsaken them. Or because they’ve been around people who worship the religion and not God. I don’t judge nor point the finger at any of those people. I pray that they truly understand, that what they went through was their test. How far could you be pushed by hypocrites, backsliders, false prophets, etc? Could you be pushed so far away from what you think represents that, that you could be shutting out what God has for you? I’m not inviting you to go to church with me next Sunday (or at least not yet Lol), but I am asking you to never stop praying, believing and having Faith that God will bring you closer to Him the way He wants you to be.

In the Book of Job, he had a beautiful family and many material possessions. Yet , the devil told God that he believed that they only reason Job feared Him was because He didn’t want to lose those Blessings that God had given him. So, the devil asked the Lord if he could prove that what he was saying was true, and he took everything Job had. He was plagued with sickness, he lost all of his material possessions and all of his children were killed in a tornado. Yet, despite all of that, Job never denied God. He still gave God the praise. Even Job’s wife had lost her Faith and wanted him to turn his back on God, but Job refused. No matter what the devil tried to do to Job, he continued to uplift the Lord. Are we strong enough to endure the pain and suffering that Job went through, and still be able to worship God? If we aren’t right at this very moment, I say it’s time that we work on getting there.

A little Faith does go a long way. But it’s time to take that little and make it a lot! Although your breakthrough hasn’t come, it doesn’t mean you are not going to receive it. Maybe you are being tested by the enemy, and it’s up to you to continue to praise God through your circumstance. Or what if there is something that God is waiting on you to do (walk away from those people and situations that take you away from keeping Him first in your life)? Remember, “if you have Faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matthew 17:20). I’m praying for us all!
